…a wise and brilliant woman…

Derald & I miss Grace. She used to make me smile when she appeared at my doorway ready to go for a walk. She was open to participating in nearly any activity – walking, climbing, shopping, eating, chatting …

I don’t recall what year we connected. We talked openly about everyone, especially the beloved members of her family – the joys and sorrows, and the hopes and aspirations. She was always very proud of her family in Utah, Norway, New York, California, Singapore, Asia.

The presentations at Grace’s memorial were poignant. I’m sorry I did not get a chance to talk with you, Marnae. But I’m glad I saw and talked to you again, Marianne. Jerry, your talk was humorous and insightful. Your visual props were great. Thank you for the cd keepsake along with notes about the significance of the selections. It is a memento of the tenderness between you and Grace, who loved you deeply. Marcus, I would like to have the words of your perceptive quote about relationships being a stage of life. Melisa, your account of Mom was thoughtful and affirms how many people feel about Grace – how lucky we were to have known her – an uncommon blend of a wise and brilliant woman filled with love and compassion. I have never had a friend like this, and I don’t expect I ever will – a beloved friend and sister, she was my Frister.

Derald and I express our sympathy for the loss of Grace. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
